Michael Roland Dodds Livermoreborn in Guelph, ON on June 6, 1946 to Ann Betty Dodds and Richard G.V.H Livermore sadly passed away November 28, 2022.
Raised in North Battleford, Dad was a great athlete throughout his school years. He was a member of the North Battleford Kinsmen Swimming Club from a young age, winning many competitions and meets. Dad had his black belt in Judo, played hockey, football and track & field.
Mom and Dad started dating when they were 15 years old, a partnership that encompassed 61 years. They wed January 28, 1967 in Saskatoon, SK when Dad was working a Robin Hood Flour Mill. That fall, Dad started his education journey at the University of Saskatchewan.
After earning his degree in Education he set off in May of 1971 for a two month contract term in Carrot River, which lasted 30 years. We can’t even begin to count the number of students Dad coached over the years. Whenever we ran into a former student, there was always a memory shared with lots of laughs. As one former student says “he was loved and adored by his students, he had a way of making you strive to do better”. This was our Dad.
Mom and Dad started racing chuckwagon and chariots in the 80’s and eventually bought 3 quarters of land and started farming. Our summers consisted of going to every local fair with Dad racing his ponies and us kids and Mom showing our horses. After the horses retired and still wanting to be involved with livestock and spend time on the farm it was time to add cattle to the mix.
After retiring from teaching, Dad has been involved with the Conservation and Development, Carrot River Town Council and Board member for the Carrot River Outback Thunder. His love for hockey and all things Thunder was his post retirement passion.
He will always be loved and remembered by his wife of 55 years, Heather; his daughter Tracey (Brent); his son Kelly (Bonnie); and his daughter Regan. His grandchildren Keely, Kirsten (Brian), Hayden (Madison), Dalton and Ethan. His sister Heather (Ron) Taylor; sister-out-laws, brother-in law and numerous nieces and nephews.
