Ida was born to Oscar "Bert" Sisson and Hazel Edna (McRae) on August 26, 1925 at the farm in the Armley district. She was the third of eight children. She inherited her parents strong work ethic; helping either inside or outside. She often worked with her brother Glenn; helping with farm chores; and helped one fall with stooking on a thrashing crew. Mom developed her skills for gardening and definitely for cooking! Mom was athletic and enjoyed playing ball, track and field; winning many cups. She always enjoyed music and dancing.
On June 17, 1947, she married Walter Wallis. To this union, son Brian born November 8, 1949 and daughter Sherryl, born March 6, 1955. Mom and Dad moved to 1/2 section of bush and lived in a grainery until their house was built in 1948. Later in life, their home was renovated and modern amenities added. Mom & Dad actively farmed well into their senior years, with Brian being an equal partner to carry on the family farm. With age they become less involved with active farming; but always remained interested.
With Sherryl becoming a diabetic at age 5, Mom and Dad both dealt with the challenges head on, although giving daily needles petrified Mom. She never stopped worrying...and even in her last days, Mom was always asking "Are you sure you're ok?"
Mom continued to stay on the farm until January of 2021 when she moved to Nirvana in Melfort and then to Newmarket in Tisdale in January 2022.
