• Matilda Josephine Lanette was the 7th Child born to Assa Francis Godfrey and Elisa Katie Daniels in the Red Earth Cree Nation. When she was six months old her parents moved the family to Carrot River, and from there she attended school Kindergarten to Grade 9 at the Carrot River School. She furthered her Education in ABE Program in Nipawin in 1994. She was also a certified Firefighter, after service she then moved back to Red Earth in 1996, and Graduated from the Homecare Program in 1997, and was one of the First Responder in Red Earth. She started working as an CHR for the Red Earth Health in 1998, she continued to further her education in the CHR Program and Graduate in 2007, and worked as CHR for Red Earth until her health started to decline in 2019. She returned to work in 2020 but since then took medical leave until the time of her passing. 
    Matilda loved played fastball and slo-pitch, in which she started playing with Chiquitas, Cree, Pink Ladies, and Centre Field Ball teams, she loved to spend time with family in any gatherings they held in Weddings, Family Feasts, visiting families in Carrot River, Nipawin, and Saskatoon, but mostly visiting her grandson Ceelo.  She spent most of her time doing beadwork making earrings, necklaces, medallions, she was currently doing a guitar strap for his nephew Dwayne but couldn’t finish. She made invitation cards for her nieces, family and Friend Weddings. She loved doing Native Art work but mostly eagles and loved doing, jigsaw and word puzzles. She made flower arrangements for family and helped in donations for Wake Services. She was currently doing a family tree project for the living room which she didn’t have the time to finish. 
    She is leaving treasured memories to her Sister Phyliss Flett; her Brothers, Sam (Veronica) and Bruce Daniels; Her Cousin(S) Erna Daniels, Martin and Aubrey Daniels; Her Adopted Children; Lyle Daniels, Antoine Daniels, Elton McKay, Terrence McKay, Sheldon Whitehead, Tavis Daniels, Aaron Daniels, Scott McKay, Henley McKay and Kristin Whitehead; her God-Children Akoona Whitehead, Tori Daniels, Logan Daniels; Her Cousins, The Children of; Jim(Violet) Daniels, Caroline(Frederick) Young, Esther (Henry) Young, the Lathlin Family, Nora Bear, Lillian (Walter) Lathlin; Whitehead family of Johnny and Priscilla Whitehead; Nawakayas Families of Louie (Myra) Nawakayas, Peter (Gertie) Nawakayas, Darius (Sarah) Nawakayas; Children(s). If we forgotten anyone it was not intentional and too numerous to mention. 
    She was Pre-deceased by her Daughter Laura Ann Lanette Marie Daniels, three stillborn Children; Her Parents Assa Francis Godfrey and Elisa Kate Daniels; Her Sisters Nellie (Reginald) Nawakayas, Verna (Matthias) McKay, Sally Ann (Jimmy) Kitty, Her Brothers; Leonard (Yvonne) (Lizzie) Daniels, Gordon (Thelma) Daniels, Darrell, Harrison and Russell Daniels; Her Uncle James(Mildred)Daniels; Her Nieces and Nephews, too numerous to mention. Her Maternal Grandparents, Amos (Matilda) Nawakayas and Paternal Grandparents Francis (Lucy) Daniels; Her brother William Daniels; Her First Cousins Sister(s) Cecilia (Ernest) Flett, Eileen Daniels (Lee Deneka). 
    Special mention to the Sister in Laws from The Head Family, The Young Family, The Mckay Family, The Nawakayas Family, The Umpherville Family, and the Crane Family too numerous to mention.
